Description
Summary:	The paper analyses historical trends in the management of inter-state co-operation in the Conventional Lake Chad Basin through the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC). The author examines not only efforts to manage a situation of ambiguous geographical location - being astride West and Central Africa - but also reviews the opportunities and constraints that some of the co-operation treaties have generated in the formation and practices of the LCBC. The author concludes with discussion of the strategies and impact of international organisations on the transformation of the LCBC as both a regional and international instance. (Polit afr/DÜI)
