520 |a Mosambik ist ein Land, das in vielerlei Hinsicht am Rand zu liegen scheint - geographisch, politisch, wirtschaftlich, sozial. In den Medien gehört es zu den Ländern der Welt, aus denen nur Katastrophennachrichten zu uns dringen, wie beispielsweise die Nachrichten und Bilder zu den verheerenden Stürmen und Überschwemmungen der Jahre 2000 und 2001. Dass sich am südöstlichen Rand des afrikanischen Kontinents aber ein Vielvölkerstaat erstreckt mit großem menschlichen und kulturellen Reichtum ist weitestgehend unbekannt. Ebenso die wechselvolle und leidvolle jüngere Geschichte aus rund dreißig Jahren Krieg - Schatten der Vergangenheit, die wie eine Hypothek auf der noch jungen Demokratie lasten. In insgesamt sieben Kapiteln entfaltet das vorliegende Länderheft ein Kaleidoskop Mosambiks, das die Lebensrealität der Menschen, ihren Alltag, dessen Schwierigkeiten und Herausforderungen unter den genannten Gesichtspunkten reflektiert und die religiöse und kirchliche "Landschaft" und deren Eingebundensein in die Ökumene spiegelt. Das letzte Kapitel schließlich erinnert an die besonderen historischen Beziehungen und Verpflichtungen zwischen unseren beiden Ländern, an das Bemühen um Verständigung und Vertiefung der Freundschaft und der Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Mosambik.
